Dr. Henry Morton: First President of Stevens
Exciting lectures on chemistry and physics put Henry Morton on the radar to be selected as the first President of Stevens Institute of Technology. Come to this exhibit to learn about his life and how he helped Stevens to become a leader in technological and mechanical engineering education.
From parades in extravagant costumes to blazing bonfires commemorating the defeat of Calculus, student traditions at Stevens have a rich and colorful history. Some of these traditions took hold but many others simply died out. This exhibition aims to shine a light on these bygone traditions which, early on, played an instrumental role in creating a shared identity connecting generations of students and alumni at the “Old Stone Mill”.
