The Library Returns . . . Mostly

Thank you to everyone over the past fifteen months for your understanding as we transitioned to a fully remote library, and then in August, to a library reopened with health & safety precautions like mask-wearing, social distancing protocols, and seat reservation requirements.  We hope you were able to do your research by connecting with one of our librarians who were available through online chat, video conferencing, social media, or plain old email.

Masks and Social Distancing

Effective August 3rd, at the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Governor of New Jersey, all faculty, staff, students, and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks in all indoor, public campus spaces regardless of vaccination status. Exempt and partially vaccinated individuals are required to wear masks in public settings.

The Library will continue to follow Stevens health and safety protocols. Please follow Stevens Covid-19 announcements about health advisories, masking, social distancing, vaccination requirements, and testing.

Come on in!

During summer sessions, access to the building will continue to be only for currently enrolled students with summer 2021 campus access and currently employed faculty and staff. Also:

  • Seat reservations are no longer needed to enter the Library.
  • Only beverages will be allowed in the Library during the summer.
  • Individual and group study rooms will reopen in the fall semester.
  • Researchers wishing to make an appointment with the Library Archives & Special Collections should contact Leah Loscutoff or Ted Houghtaling.

Books set free!

On Wednesday, June 2, the library stacks were reopened to the Stevens community. Please see our Borrow & Renew page for policies. If you are a remote student, faculty, or staff member, the Library will be happy to mail a book from the Library's collection to you via UPS and we will include a return mailing label at no cost to you.

Research assistance

Research assistance is available via the ASK US online chat reference service.  Librarians will continue to be available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET to answer your research questions.  If the Librarian-on-chat is busy assisting another patron, please hold, or schedule a consultation with a librarian here.

Please check back with Library News for fall semester updates to services and resources. We wish you a happy and healthy summer! We are here for you.
