The Library welcomes back all returning students and we extend an enthusiastic welcome to the Stevens Class of 2020! We look forward to seeing students, faculty, and staff in the coming weeks in our workshops, instruction classes, throughout the Library, and all around campus.
We have worked with Facilities and Campus Operations to make some noticeable improvements to the Library over the summer. On the Library’s second floor, the curved wall has been upgraded with extended countertops and power outlets on both sides of the wall and 32 stools for additional study seating. Several study couches have been added to the second floor, as well. Several study carrels have been added to the third floor for additional quiet study seating. These improvements in study seating are helping the Library transform into an outstanding 21st century learning space.
In the next few weeks, we will add two iMac workstations equipped with art, music, design, production, and programming applications. We’re also working on making some improvements to the Library restrooms.
New Office for ELC
Over the summer the English Language Communication (ELC) Office has moved to the Library third floor in Room 300. International students will meet here with ELC Instructors and Staff to utilize language software and experience related ELC workshops and activities.
Open House Success!
On August 31 the Library held its annual open house. Over 120 students attended the open house and met with the Librarians to learn about the collections, services, technology, workshops, instruction classes, and research resources we provide. We invite you to place a map pin showing your home town on the maps we have set up in the Great Hall, and we hope you’ll use the dry/erase board in the Great Hall each week to answer our Question of the Week!
Events at the Library
Look for announcements from the Library in the near future about our upcoming workshops, film series, study break activities, Library Advisory Board meetings, and other events, here!
We look forward to a great academic year and we hope you’ll reach out to us with your questions, concerns, and comments to help us bring you the Library services and resources you need! We want to hear from you.
On behalf of my colleagues on the Library Staff, best wishes for a happy, healthy, and successful academic year!
