Following the trend happening in many academic libraries, the Samuel C. Williams Library is shifting its book purchases from print format to primarily electronic format. This allows off-campus users easier access to research material, and it helps the library preserve space for study and group work. This shift, however, may require a shift in the way you use books, and it doesn't help that ebook vendors don't follow a single standard when creating electronic content. Some vendors allow online use only with no printing or saving; other vendors may allow you to download or print a limited number of pages; still others may allow you to check out an ebook for a given number of days. This guide will help you get more comfortable with evaluating and using ebooks in our library.
