The Archives & Special Collections of the Samuel C. Williams Library is collecting writings, photographs, audio-visual materials, and other digital materials to document the experiences of Stevens students, alumni, faculty, and staff impacted by the ongoing situation surrounding COVID-19.
We recognize that for many members of our community, this moment can be a time of great uncertainty and fatigue, leaving little room for personal reflection. For those who are willing to share their experiences, we want to have your voices heard and used as a resource for future generations. We hope this research collection will accurately reflect how our community reacted to and navigated this unprecedented period in history.
We encourage you to consider the following before you submit:
How have you dealt with working and studying from home?
How are you navigating the shift to remote instruction and learning?
How are you and your friends, colleagues, and family staying in touch or supporting one another?
Have you engaged with your community to help others in need?
Do/did you have a job on or off-campus? How has that been affected by COVID-19?
How are you documenting your experience?
While we will accept physical materials once it is safe to do so, our current goal is to take in as many digital materials as we can. Anything from a journal, video diary, photographs, artwork, interviews with friends or family, social media posts, or any means you use to express yourself during this time is valuable as a historic record.
You should share only those materials which you are comfortable having included in a research collection that will be accessible by scholars, students and others. We will not accept personally identifiable health information about you or others.
Alternatively, you may elect to remain anonymous in which case we will not associate your name with your materials.
Accepted materials will be preserved as a digital collection in the Archives & Special Collections and will be made available for research to members of the Stevens community and other scholars unless otherwise specified.
Please use the Google Form to submit your digital materials with a Google login (either Gmail or Stevens email). You can upload 10 files at once, but the total upload must be 100MB or less. We will accept the following formats: Photographs (.jpg, .png); Audio (.mp3, .wav); Text (.doc, .docx, .txt, .pdf); Video (.mp4, .avi, .webm, .mkv). If you have something else you would like to submit, please e-mail thoughta@stevens.edu so we can work it out!
If you have any questions about the process or need help with your submission, contact Ted Houghtaling, Archivist & Digital Projects Librarian: thoughta@stevens.edu
We look forward to hearing from you!
