2024 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of African American writer/activist James Baldwin.

Baldwin's books are sometimes banned because of his honest assessments of race, poverty and LGBTQ life in American society.

He's considered by many to be one of the most important writers and thinkers of the twentieth century.
