Borrow & Renew

Course Reserves and Textbook Collection

Certain items that prove to be high-demand/high-usage are housed separately from the regular collection and have a shorter borrowing period to facilitate fair access.

Selected titles are entered into the Reserve Collection at the request of a faculty member or Library Staff and are shelved behind the Circulation Services desk.

Reserve course materials can include but are not limited to:

  • high-demand books

  • select class textbooks

  • homework assignments

  • problem sets

  • examination preparation guides

  • study materials

Please note: Reserve materials can only be borrowed for 2 hours and must be used in the Library.

Finding Course Reserve Books

  1. Search the library's catalog.
  2. Books on reserve will appear in the catalog as "Samuel C. Williams Library Reserve Books (2 hours)".
  3. Bring the title of the book, author, and call number to the Circulation Services Desk and ask for the book.

How to Place Materials on Course Reserve

Faculty wanting to place course material on reserve to provide convenient access for their students should complete a Course Reserve Form (below) and submit it along with the material being sent to the Library.

Please note that it is important that all items on the form be completed as thoroughly as possible.
