Elizabeth Kolbert is an American journalist and author and visiting fellow at the Williams College Center for Environmental Studies. Kolbert has been a columnist for The New Yorker since 1999, with a focus on environmentalism. Before that, she wrote for The New York Times for 14 years.

The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, and, more recently, Kolbert won the 2019 Pell Center Prize for Story in the Public Square for her work as "a storyteller whose work has significantly influenced the public dialogue."

Her other books include Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change (2006) and The Prophet of Love (2004), and she co-edited The Ends of the Earth: An Anthology of the Finest Writing on the Arctic and Antarctic (2007).
